Jin
The protagonist. Every tool you need, and the Heat engine in its purest form.
Should you main Jin?
Jin sits in the sweet spot of Tekken 8 Mishima-adjacent kits: solid pokes, Heat engages, and launch punish tools without demanding Kazuya-level electrics on day one. Lab walls, Heat Dash pressure, and defense on him when you want one main that still teaches the whole game.
He still asks for execution on electrics and just-frame-ish confirms if you chase optimal damage. Special Style can carry early learning, but ranked progress eventually wants manual inputs for consistency under pressure.
Main Jin to learn Tekken 8's modern systems with a character who is always relevant. Practice a safe poke string, a Heat engage, and a wall carry route. Defend first; flashy launchers matter less than not eating launch punishable strings.
Heat should start a plan you already labbed — a plus poke into mix, or a punish route — not a panic flail when you are being chipped. At the wall, know one carry and one break ender. Defensive habits (block, low parry attempts, sidestep timing) raise your floor faster than a new 80-damage combo.
