Thresh

the Chain Warden

Lantern-and-hook warden; flexible plays for experienced supports.

Should you main Thresh?

Thresh is the playmaking Support: Death Sentence hooks, Dark Passage lantern saves, Flay for displacement, and The Box that slows anyone who crosses walls. He sets up kills and rescues ADCs who would otherwise die to ganks.

Hook accuracy and lantern discipline separate Thresh players. A lantern that nobody takes is a wasted cooldown; a Flay that cancels an engage can win the lane alone. He is weaker when you miss every hook and leave your ADC without peel.

Pick Thresh when you like engaging and saving in equal measure. Practice hook angles from fog and brush. Lantern your jungler into a gank or your ADC out of a dive — communicate who should click it. Swap if the enemy comp makes hooks impossible and you need hard engage like Nautilus instead.

Death Sentence from fog beats hooks everyone walked into on a straight line. Flay the dash, not the minion wave, and drop The Box to cut retreat paths after a hook lands. Your ADC's life is often worth more than a greedy second hook attempt into the enemy jungle.
